NIMCET-2012
National Institutes of
Technology (NITs) are Institutes of National Importance and are Centrally
Funded Technical Institutes. The NIMCET is NIT MCA Common Entrance Test, a
National Level Test conducted by NITs for admission in to their MCA programme.
The admission to the MCA prgoramme in to NITs at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur,
Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli and Warangal for
the year 2012-13 is be based on the Rank obtained in NIMCET-2012 ONLY. The Curriculum and
Syllabi of Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme offered by NITs are
designed considering the needs of different Information Technology Firms in
India and abroad. MCA graduates have high potential for jobs in IT Sector.
ADMISSION METHODOLOGY
The entire process that a candidate has to undergo, consists of six stages:
- Applying Online and posting hard-copy with enclosures: In this stage, all eligible candidates should create login and password by registering themselves in the website http:// nimcet2012.nitw.ac.in between 13-02-2012 to 02-04-2012. Then fill the online application form made available in the website after obtaining DD for processing fee, scanned copy of their latest passport photo, signature before 09-04-2012. Take hard-copy of electronically submitted online form and post it with all enclosures stated in this brochure so as to reach Secretary on or before 16-04-2012.
B. Appearing for NIMCET-2012 : Download the admit card between 07-05-2012 and 20-05-2012 and write the NIMCET-2012 test which is scheduled to be conducted on 20th May 2012 (Sunday) between 10.00 A.M and 12.00 noon at various test centers listed in Table 1 of page No. 7. of Information Brochure Candidates should present in the examination hall of the test center allotted before 9.15 am on 20th May, 2012. Detailed Syllabus and test pattern is given in this brochure.
C. Choice filling and locking: Candidates will be awarded with NIMCET-2012 rank on 05-06-2012 and they have to take print out of their rank card made available in the website. Candidates who got rank can login and fill the choices of participating institutes in their order of preference between 12-06-2012 to 18-06-2012. They can modify these choices or reorder them any number of times. However, they have to lock their choices on or before 5 pm on 18-06-2012. After locking, candidates will not be able to alter their choices.
D. Online Seat Allotment and personally reporting at a remote/participating institute: Candidates will be offered seats based on their choices in the order of merit over four rounds of allotment. Candidates who are allotted a seat (i.e. offered provisional admission) must report to any one of the participating NIT (reporting at such institute is called hereafter remote reporting) during the dates specified in this brochure against each round of reporting, get the documents verified and pay the initial fee to mark their acceptance of the offered seat and give option (upgrade option in case a seat is upgraded in second/third round of allotment) in option form. They will also be issued a provisional admission letter.
E. Getting Admitted to Allotted Institute: After the fourth round of allotment, i.e. between 10-07-2012 to 12-07-2012, candidates are required to physically present at the institute at which he/she is offered with initial seat or upgraded seat which ever is later.
F. Spot allotment round: After fourth round of reporting, vacant seats in various Participating NITs will be published in the website http://nimcet2012.nitw.ac.in on 23-07-2012. If any candidate who has already got admitted in any NIT wishes to apply for these vacant seats, he/she has to apply for cancellation of admission to the seat and fill the choices afresh through any NIT. Candidates who were not allotted seat in any first through fourth round of allotment are also eligible for spot allotment, but such candidates need to fill the choices afresh again.ADMISSION PROCEDURE
NIMCET-2012 application form is common for appearing for Entrance Test and for counseling for admission to MCA at all the eleven participating NITs offering MCA programme. Participating Institutes are NITs at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli and Warangal.
Candidates are not required to apply separately to any NIT for admission to MCA programme.
The admission to MCA programme in all the 11 participating NITs will be based on NIMCET-2012 rank and choices to be opted by the candidates during the counseling/admission process.
Details of the counseling process is given below and any changes shall be notified onhttp://nimcet2012.nitw.ac.in website in due course of time. The candidates are advised to check this website regularly for updates.
NIMCET-2012 will have four rounds of counseling and candidate will be given one week time for filling choices online before first round of counseling.
Candidates declared eligible in NIMCET-2012 will be allowed to fill the choices of Institutes in to which the candidate wishes to take admission into MCA programme.- Candidates are required to use their login and password to fill these choices of institutes through online from their place of convenience. All the eligible candidates are required to lock their choices between 07th and 13th June 2012 till 5.00 pm. However, automatic lock will be put on choices of all the candidates after 5 pm on 13-6-2012. Final seat allotments will be made on the basis of his/her rank and institute choice locked.
The following options can be exercised by the candidates after the first, second and third round of allotments:
Option-1 candidates: Candidates who wish to finalise the seat allotted to them and wish to join in the institute allotted to them. (Their higher preference choices, if any, will be ignored in subsequent rounds).
Option-2 candidates: Candidates who wish to be considered in the next round for all of their higher preference choices (i.e. across institutes).
Remote reporting center: Any participating NIT whichever is near the candidate’s residence
Initial fee: DD for Rs. 10,000/- drawn in favour of "NIMCET - 2012" payable at Warangal

These candidates have to wait for the announcement of the dates for filling choices afresh and spot allotment round if any planned by NIMCET-2012.Transfer from one NIT to another NIT is not permitted in any circumstances once the candidate has taken admission in any of the participating NIT.
The general eligibility for NIMCET-2012 entrance examination is same for all the participating NITs.
